The world’s best summertime small-scale live steam event returns to Sacramento once again in 2012. The National Summer Steamup 2012 will include clinics on small-scale live steam techniques, an exhibit of small-scale live steam products, as well as door prizes and other entertainment. Live steamers from around the world will enjoy 45mm (Gauge One) and 32mm (Gauge O) live steam operation of small-scale locomotives for four days in July 2012. Event hours will be Wednesday, July 18, 6 p.m.-1 a.m.; Thursday through Saturday, July 19-21, 7 a.m.-1 a.m., and Sunday, July 22, 7 a.m.-Noon. Until we are informed by the hotel that we can set up earlier on July 18, please do not plan to be there before 6 p.m.; those who would like to tear down should expect to be finished around 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 22. More information on the event is available, as are details about the hotel itself. Registration forms to print and mail are available for downloading. We again offer credit card-based on-line registration, using the PayPal system. The early-bird registration deadline for the event – which includes a free Saturday night BBQ dinner – is July 1; the Lions Gate’s deadline for discounted rooms is June 26.
